NCFE – QUALIFICATIONS

NCFE Level 1 – Award in Travel & Tourism

Introduction

These qualifications aim to:

  • provide learners with an understanding of the basic principles of the travel and tourism industry and allows them to explore the various avenues of work within this industry.
  • allow learners to gain transferrable skills that can be applied to the workplace or further study.

While completing these qualifications, learners may develop the knowledge, understanding and essential skills employers look for in employees. These range from familiar ‘key skills’ such as team working, independent learning and problem solving, to more tricky to-measure skills such as:

  • an appreciation for appropriate behaviour and dress
  • appropriate interpersonal skills
  • personal manners and deportment
  • understanding work practices and how different roles and departments function within an organisation.

Modules:

The award consists of four units ( 2 mandatory and 2 optional):

These qualifications consist of 2 graded mandatory units:

  • Unit 01 Customer service in travel and tourism (3 credits)
  • Unit 02 Communication skills in travel and tourism (3 credits)
  • Unit 12 Working as a team in travel and tourism (3 credits)
  • Unit 11 Problem solving in travel and tourism (3 credits)

Six months

Assessment:

Internally assessed workbook. Candidates must successfully complete all four mandatory units to be awarded the NCFE Level 1 Award in Travel & Tourism.

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Hospitality Services)

Introduction

Help learners develop the knowledge, skills and understanding in areas such as maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team, maintaining food safety in a catering environment and knowledge of the principles of producing basic dishes.

The objective of this qualification is to help learners to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed for working within the hospitality industry.

NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Front of House Reception)

Introduction

Learners will develop the underpinning skills, knowledge and understanding required to work in the hospitality industry in roles such as receptionists, back office team and reservation team in a variety of different environments. The objectives of this qualification are to help learners develop knowledge in areas such as maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team and dealing effectively with the arrival and departure of customers whilst maintaining good customer service.

This qualification consists of mandatory and optional units:

Introduction

The Level 1 Certificate in Hospitality & Catering is a joint development between NCFE and Network Training Publishing. The Level 1 Certificate in Hospitality & Catering is suitable as an introduction for people who wish to access training in Hospitality & Catering with a view to progress to further qualifications.

Modules:

The award consists of four mandatory units:

Products and services available in the hospitality industry

  • Developing customer service skills
  • Safety, security and knowledge of the workplace
  • Health and hygiene requirements

Duration:

Six months

Assessment:     

Internally assessed workbook. Candidates must successfully complete all four mandatory units to be awarded the NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Hospitality & Catering.

NCFE Level 2 – Certificate for Airline Cabin Crew

Introduction

The Level 2 Certificate in Cabin Crew prepares learners for entry to airline industry training. It is not intended as a replacement to the training given by airlines upon the receuirement of new cabin crew staff. This qualifications provides the basic background skills, knowledge and understanding required to work effectively as a member of cabin crew.

This is ideal for those seeking employment or for those wishing to enhance their studies in travel & tourism.

Modules:

The award consists of six mandatory units:

  • Unit 01 Working as Cabin Crew
  • Unit 02 Airline health, safety and security
  • Unit 03 Aircraft emergency situations

Unit 04 Dealing with passengers on board an aircraf

  • Unit 05 Cabin services – selling techniques
  • Unit 06 Making passengers announcements on board an aircraft
  • Unit 07 Employment Rights and Responsibilities in the Passenger Transport Sector

Introduction

The NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Nutrition and Health has been developed in response to rising levels of obesity in both adults and children.

Modules:

The award consists of three mandatory units:

  • Explore principles of health eating
  • Consider nutritional needs of a variety of individuals
  • Use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet

Duration:

Four months

Entry Requirements:

*A minimum age of 18

*A good level of written English

Assessment:     

Internally assessed and externally moderated portfolio. Candidates must successfully complete all three mandatory units to be awarded the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Nutrition & Health.

Introduction
 
This qualification aims to:

♦ provide Resort Representatives with the tools to deliver the highest level of standards and service
♦ enhance the status of Resort Representatives within the travel and tourism industry

Introduction
 
This qualification is aimed at those working in, or who wish to enter, the hospitality industry. It must be assessed in the workplace or in a realistic working environment to allow learners to gain handson experience as they train. It allows flexibility in choice for the learner to take units from different pathways. This qualification is designed for learners employed, or who aspire to be employed, in hospitality roles, for example front of house receptionist.
Completion of this course will help to prepare learners for working in the Hospitality industry where they would be expected to undertake a range of duties including dealing with the arrival and departure of customers, communications and dealing with customer service issues.

The NCFE Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Front of House Reception has a total credit value of 37.
